Linkin Park’s New Vocalist, Emily Armstrong, Leads the Band’s Comeback
In a thrilling revelation, Linkin Park has announced the addition of Emily Armstrong from Dead Sara as their new co-vocalist and Colin Brittain, known for his work with G Flip, Illenium, and One OK Rock, as their new drummer.
This announcement was made during a live performance event on Thursday, coinciding with the debut of their latest single, “The Emptiness Machine.” This track marks their first musical release in seven years and serves as the lead single from their forthcoming album, “From Zero.” Scheduled for release on November 15 via Warner Records, this album will be their inaugural full-length project since 2017’s “One More Light,” which was released shortly before the tragic passing of their former lead vocalist, Chester Bennington.
The reformed lineup, which includes Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix, and Joe Hahn alongside their new recruits, will undertake a six-date arena tour spanning Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, London, Seoul, and Bogota. The complete tour schedule is outlined below.
Linkin Park’s reunion performance occurred in Los Angeles on Thursday, where they performed for an exclusive audience transported by bus to a studio lot. The concert was livestreamed and will be accessible on Linkin Park’s official online platforms for the following 24 hours.
In a recent press statement, it was revealed that Shinoda, Delson, Farrell, and Hahn had “discreetly begun reconvening in recent times.” Rather than attempting to revive the band, they collaborated with various musicians, ultimately forging a profound connection with Armstrong and Brittain.
Regarding this new chapter, Shinoda remarked, “Before we became Linkin Park, we were known as Xero. The title of this album reflects both our modest beginnings and the journey we are embarking on now. It’s a sonic and emotional exploration of our past, present, and future—honoring our distinctive sound while infusing it with renewed vitality. This project is a tribute to our new and long-standing members, our friends, family, and fans. We are proud of Linkin Park’s evolution and are eager for what lies ahead.”
“The Emptiness Machine” is described as embodying the core essence of Linkin Park. Shinoda conveyed that the band feels “invigorated by this new lineup and the dynamic, energetic music we’ve crafted together,” emphasizing their efforts to blend familiar sonic elements with innovative new directions.
Pre-sale tickets for the “From Zero” tour will be available to LP Underground fan club members starting September 6. General sales will commence the following day, September 7.
This announcement follows the spring release of Linkin Park’s “Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023),” a 20-track LP that compiles the band’s greatest hits from over two decades. Released through Warner Records, it includes notable tracks such as “In the End,” “Burn It Down,” and the Jay-Z mash-up, “Numb/Encore,” along with “Lost,” which contributed to the resurgence of their album “Meteora” in the Billboard 200 top 10.
